COSTA RICA LIVIN'

A MINI GETAWAY
It's always been a dream of mine to travel often. The beauty that the world has to offer is indescribable and I'm a true believer that it's meant to be seen with one's own eyes. This is why in January of 2018 I promised myself that I would go out and explore the world, explore its beauty. I can happily say I've made my dreams come true thus far. I've stayed true to my word, traveled to four different countries in the last five months and I'm just getting started. Why Costa Rica? Do you see this view? Why not Costa Rica? The picture does it no justice.
I think when you travel you go with the intention of finding peace, of being away from the chaos of everyday life. That's when I realized this would be a perfect mother/daughter trip. Before I start giving you all the scoop I want to fill you in on a little detail about why this trip was so special to me. My beautiful, hard working and dedicated mother has never (before this trip) taken a vacation in her life! Imagine working hard all your life, seeing after your kids/husband and never enjoying the luxury of a vacation. I knew I had to make this happen and it wasn't for me (even though I'd be enjoying the perks) but it was for the happiness I would feel for her just watching her lay on the beach of Costa Rica with a coconut in hand (this has been her dream). I made that dream happen. I booked us two flights and on January 24th, 2019 we made her dream a reality. Now let's begin, shall we?
If you're a beach lover, GO TO TAMARINDO! A very hippie town with one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen. I stayed at a villa nearby (7-8 mins away) but my recommendation would be not to waste your time looking for outside hotels/airbnb's, just find a hotel right in the center of town because it's going to make your life and travel a lot simpler. Shopping was really accessible since there were so many stores on the strip. It had everything from your regular knick knacks, to your random stores of natural products (that's my thang) and wood crafted art pieces.
PSA - COSTA RICA IS PRICEY COMPARED TO OTHER COUNTRIES I'VE VISITED SO PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY!
*ON A SIDE NOTE THEY ALSO USE U.S DOLLARS EVERYWHERE SO I NEVER HAD TO CHANGE MY MONEY TO THEIR CURRENCY (COLON) BUT IF YOU WANT TO YOU CERTAINLY CAN*
Okay, now back to Tamarindo. If you're a beer person like me I urge, beg and demand that you go to Volcano Brewery Company, what a little gem this place was. I must have tried like 4-5 different beers before going back to the beach and watching the sunset all buzzed (it really be like that). Now that I think back to that moment and watching that sunset with one of the most meaningful people in my life all i have to say is wow! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO LIVE IT!
I'm going to be very honest and start off by saying that Playa Hermosa wasn't my favorite. I didn't think that the beach was as beautiful as the one in Tamarindo. Please don't take that to mean that you shouldn't go and experience that for yourself maybe your opinion will be different, who knows? What did make this place really special for us was the villa that we were able to stay in. Our host David is one of the sweetest people I've ever met while traveling. He genuinely cared about providing such a great experience for us that if you do go please click on the link below and stay with him. I can't express enough how grateful we were for him. He made everything easier, from getting taxi's, providing the best places to go for touristy vibes (remember I went with a new traveler so touristy was on the menu). The views? Oh man, you have them for daysssssss. I promise you this place is paradise and had it not been for my mom wanting to go into town I'm not sure that I would have left the villa at all to be honest. Click that link below! (and no I'm not getting paid to advertise this link I just genuinely want you to go experience what I did!)
PLAYA DEL COCO
This beach is about 10-15 minutes away from Playa Hermosa and David definitely steered us the right way when I asked him to send us somewhere touristy and shop friendly. It was awesome because it had so many stores and pretty cool things for people who went to really shop. Breakfast was pretty cheap also compared to other places we had eaten so that was a plus. They had bars right by the beach so it was a pleasant view when sipping on a beer. I'm not sure if it's just me but it felt like it was 10x hotter in Playa Del Coco than in Tamarindo and Playa Hermosa. Be careful with the sun out there it's dangerous! I got sun poisoning for not taking care of myself so stay hydrated my friends.
You could tell that this beach was definitely all locals. It was awesome to experience a beach day with the local Ticos. I felt at home, safe and I just observed how different people are out there. I think it's important that as humans we explore different cultures, different people, different ways of living so we can open ourselves up to seeing how different the world is. Go out and live it and stop making excuses as to why you're not or why you can't!
Costa Rica is pricey so go prepared!
Tamarindo = AMAZING
Volcano Brewing Company a must!
Playa Hermosa = go to David's Villa!
Playa Del Coco is a local beach so go experience a day with your local Ticos!
BEWARE OF THE SUN!
